The Brooks Rand Model III CVAFS Mercury Detector

Introducing the latest technology in mercury analysis, the Brooks Rand Model III Mercury Detector is based on Cold Vapor Atomic Fluorescence Spectrophotometry (CVAFS). Older Cold Vapor Atomic Absorption (CVAA) technology is now recognized by the EPA as being unsuitable for measuring environmentally hazardous levels of mercury in water. The standard CVAA method and even recently improved CVAA units are not sensitive enough to quantify at the current water quality criteria of 0.012 for fresh water ecosystems. As a result the EPA has adopted and will soon promulgate Method 1631 which recommends using the BRL Model III. The Model III with Method 1631 can achieve a MDL of less than 0.0001 ppb. Method 1631 is now being required be several state agencies and will soon become the industry standard.
